![]() Maybe the program was told "My Internet connection is 10 Mbps" instead of 100 for example (simple typo) and it then shapes the traffic accordingly with the upper cap set. It's possible a previous configuration issue has instructed that program to limit Internet to 12 Mbps when it's on that particular LAN. Plug into a different network, they detect that they are now elsewhere and won't apply the same settings. Thanks all, I will try these things when I get back on site this week and report back.Ī reason why it doesn't always happen even if you do have such software installed is because some of those packages try to be smart. I did confirm that the negotiated link speed is full duplex and gigabit. Just because I didnt try to set up any advanced settings doesn't mean they arn't there, maybe even just reset it to defaults and configure again. Going to have to scour through the Ubiquiti router again. I'll add that to my OP list, I knew I'd forget to list something I tried. I did think of MAC address and connected by the built in wireless with no change. It doesn't have an issue when moved to a different router/straight to modem but I've learned to never rule anything out. I'll double check for software, it's an i5 Dell so no APU. Clearly something in the network is causing this. I am not overly familiar with having a domain server in the network which is why I'm asking for help here. I'm stumped as to how it can be getting capped without logging in to the server or using the server for DNS. Plugged one problem PC directly into cable modem at business and got full 400Mb/s speed brought PC to my home and got full 400Mb/s speeds Switched to built in wifi to change mac address/adapter in case cap was based on that. Workstations do not use static IP's, they are DHCP from the router. created new user account and changed machine name on network. swapped a temporary known good switch in for whole network unplugged all workstations and server and ran just the one slow PC alone on the network, all equipment was powered off for 5 min and rebooted for this. plugged this one PC directly to the router instead of switch ran a cat6 line through the hall to the closet just to test I have tried all these things with no change: Same user complained of slow internet speeds prior to the new PC so I suspect the problem was there previously as well. New Ubiquiti Edge X router last month with basic setup, no QOS or anything fancy.Ģnd new PC is capped at 12Mb/s internet speed but has full 100MB/s+ LAN transfers. Other PC's have no issue and get 100Mb/s+ depending on age. New PC is Windows 10 Home and does not log into the domain. One new PC I deployed is fine, over 300Mb/s speeds on speedtest and over 100MB/s LAN transfers. For new PC's I am transitioning the workstations to not log into the domain as most applications have gone to the cloud and the server is only used to store scans at this point. Very strange situation and I would appreciate any ideas please.Įnvironment is an insurance agency with 6 workstations and one server with active domain. ![]()

If you purchase the Scheps 73 with the idea of getting all microscopic with your EQ tweaks, you are likely going to be disappointed. Now, this little bit of magic dust is available to users of the Waves Audio Scheps 73. Previously, this control only existed in the 1078 channel strip, which is about as rare as vintage studio equipment comes. This was a little-known feature that was tucked away in the original schematics of the 1073. In addition to the fixed 12kHz band, there is a switchable low/mid-range control that can be cut and boosted, and an 18dB/octave high-pass filter.īut what really makes the 73 special is the 10kHz midrange band control. Scheps 73’s EQ bands match those on the 1073. But for the money, this is certainly the next best thing. The chances of having an actual 1073 in your home studio are pretty slim, to say the least. Scheps 73 pretty much mirrors the specs of the 1073, from the interrelated frequency ranges of the EQ to the behavior of the circuitry. Andrew has worked with Adele, Lana Del Ray, Black Sabbath, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. Modeled on the EQ and mic preamp of the legendary Neve 1073 console, it was developed in conjunction with noted mixing engineer Andrew Scheps. Scheps 73 is a 3-band EQ that adds a healthy helping of color to any audio pumped through it. So for a quick and easy one-knob solution to dull and lifeless audio, this could be exactly what you need. Even so, it’s hard to argue with the results. The Brighter’s single knob may turn off users looking for more control over their tone shaping. Some even have it permanently strapped on to the end of their mixing chains. Other users have found the Brighter to be useful for adding ‘sparkle’ in a way that EQ plugins cannot achieve. Thom Russo, who has engineered for Michael Jackson, among others, has found it an effective solution for altering harmonic content in a pleasing manner. Bungle delights in the plugin’s easy navigation and dependable results. User impressionsīrighter has earned praise from a varied array of users, from recording artists to engineers, and even home recording practitioners. Although you can use an EQ plugin to achieve a similar effect, Brighter gives you great results with little to no effort. In most cases, you can simply patch it onto a dark or murky audio track and it will get you where you want with a slight twist of the knob. OneKnob Brighter is about as simple as it gets. The affected frequency shifts upwards as you go up the dial. The lowest part of the knob affects frequencies around 3kHz. The range in which the signal is boosted actually changes as you turn the control. Useful features and applicationīrighter applies a fairly broad treble boost in an ‘intelligent’ manner, which helps preserve the sonic character of the audio being processed. With this feature, Brighter could be the only thing you need to give your tracks enough ‘poke’ to shine through a busy mix. This will brighten up the source material, making practically anything cut through the mix more effectively. In this case, Brighter’s sole knob intelligently adds a treble boost to the signal. In fact it’s part of Wave’s celebrated OneKnob series, and it provides single knob control for adjusting its primary function. It isn’t quite like most other treble boosters, in that it only affects signals from the mid-high range and higher. OneKnob Brighter is one of our favorite exciter plugins.
